David Copperfield, Claims to have made the statue of Liberty disappear. Still there though....talking out of his arse

This week I made an amazing discovery. For the past 15 years or so I have been under the impression that I didn’t like strawberries. With this in mind I never eat the things, but this week that had to change. I was visiting some Korean friends of mine and as always they laid out some snacks for us to get through, snacks I might add, that I have to eat in order to be polite. This time I had the choice of strawberries or strawberries. I took the plunge and discovered after one bite that I actually really enjoyed them.

This on its own is not interesting in the slightest. I did however find out something that I didn’t like. There is a channel on Korean TV called ‘MagicTV’ as you can imagine it shows magic and magic related shows throughout the day. I was watching that this morning and found that I really couldn’t care less for the prancing, sequined, showboating perverts that were on the screen.

Magic is amazing, I grant you that, but the stuff you seen Paul Daniels, David Copperfield, Siegfried and Roy, that effeminate fat guy that says ‘piff paff poof’, et al do is not magic; it’s illusionism. If I didn’t know that this series of self aggrandizing performers were not doing real magic (if such a thing exists) then I would be suitably impressed. Knowing that there is just a 'trick' to it takes all the mystery, wonder and excitement out of it.
There is no wonder or excitement in standing on top of a big stick, or sitting in a box for ages.

So, on to the reason for writing this, if anyone actually gets this far down without going off to have a cup of tea or play some Tetris. Obviously, tastes change over the course of your life. Stuff you didn’t like and stuff you like change places without giving you any sort of warning. Is there a specific time for this to happen? When did I start liking strawberries? Was there a point that I came where an internal switch made me change my tastes? At what point in my education did I realize that a series of prisms and pulleys does not make entertainment?

I put all these things down or up, but at the end of the day, maybe somebody might have magicked me into liking strawberries.

I'm not a fan of magic. Making the statue of liberty disappear is easy when the people you're making it disappear for are sitting two miles away. Try doing it when they're climbing up to the torch. That's magic.

And close up magic is surely just an excuse for guys with no social skills to talk to stupid women?

That said, I always have time for showboating perverts (showboat on you crazy dreamers!) and tigers.
