And after I pull off that miracle, maybe I'll go punch out God.

Birthdays are an interesting thing here in Korea. You are born at age 1 (the 9 months in the womb count as a year) and your age increases on new years day, rather than on your birthday.

This means that from my time arriving back here in February I have had to tell people that I am 27. So, when my 26th birthday did come around on Saturday I actually felt a lot better about telling people my age. I say a lot better, but it’s never really hit me as something bad (getting older that is). I assume that it must be when I am older than I am now that my feelings will start to change on this subject. I’ll let you know when I turn 30, that seems to a big milestone that people bitch about.

We headed out for some dinner, which was great. Then on to a bar, which was also great. Then we jumped in a bunch of taxis to head to a nightclub. Unfortunately we had forgotten to put on our Korean masks, and consequently the bigotry that is so often just under the surface, came up and reared its ugly head. We were told that there were no tables for us (however those in the queue in front and behind us were not told the same). We dug a bit deeper and the guy admitted that Saturday is ‘no foreigner night’. Funny, I’ve been there before quite a few times on Saturdays.

I thought about how well this sort of attitude would have gone down at home, and then decided that that sort of thinking might ruin my night. We hit another couple of bars and then rounded off the evening in a noreabang.
