Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.
Saturday was full of dancing, singing, acting and fruity little outfits.I know this sounds like a regular weekend to some of you (Gregor, Keithy, Reido, J, Chimp to name a few) but it was quite an experience for me. I was at the school's kindergarten winter festival. Not the same as the lame panto exercises as put on by schools up and down Britain every year (I admit I enjoyed them at the time but I can look back on those shows now and see them for what they really are - crap). This was an altogether sort of lame, this was glam too, lets call it GLAME!
The show invoves a whole host of different acts: dancing, singing, acting, little sketches. It was quite fun to watch and most of it was done in English. Amazingly even though most of the parents couldn't speak english, they clapped after every performance. I expected more, and I told them that afterwards 'you'll never work in this town again!' I shouted from my high horse 'You call that acting? I know some 3 year olds that could have done better!' I continued this tirade for about 15 minutes, there wasn't a dry eye in the house.
The glame show began at 4pm but I was there from 1 helping out, my skill in this area involved me being taller than everyone else. After the decorations and all that nonsense, it was time to get the kids ready. A room full of hyperactive 4-7 year olds with no air conditioning is not a pretty place to be and as I walked into the room they were all grabbing at me saying 'Alan teacher, Alan teacher, water water water'. It was like a scene from Comic Relief (the bits that Lenny Henry does, most of you would have missed them as they are usually used for toilet breaks, making some tea, feed the dog) so I hurried as fast as I could be bothered to get them some.
Fully hydrated they were more of a nightmare, I should have left them to suffer.
The show went on fine, I was on stage for some of it but it was mostly hosted by this Korean guy that I couldn't understand. The day finished and after much tidying and cheering (I think that the cheering was mostly for me, although the parents of the kids were aiming in the wrong direction. It's not often that you get an audience jam packed with people who have squint eyes is it?

There are pics up on the board of the show as well as some pics of the Independence Hall.
Due to a terrible showing in the last round of guess the quote, I have given you lot an easy one today. Don't let me down.
That is an easy one, and I share in the shame which will doubtless be apportioned to all for the failure to get the last one.
Ferris Bueller's Day Off.
I remember my school disasters. The nativity, Robin Hood, the World War II show that was cancelled because of the outbreak of the Gulf War (first one), and Stars In Their Eyes. God they were all bloody awful, and in a distant land, a generation later, the tradition continues.
It's enough to bring a tear to a glass tear duct.
DFP (AKA il magnifico, but just for today)
brilliant first point for chimpy
The legendery Ferris Bueller's day off... woo hoo
Can't believe I missed my first point by 1 minute absolutley gutted and to top it all off my computer crashed the very second I found out I had my point stolen from me on the finishing line!!
Why d'you taunt me soo.... why!!
Ahh so, you must be quick like badger, not slow, like slow badger.
DFP (I am Jack's inappropriate sense of irreverence)
Dave gains another point here.
I feel sorry for Chimpy as he was so close in this round, I had thought to share the points here.
The though passed quite quickly and now I'm sure I'm not going to.
The leader board now stands thusly after 10 games:
Name Quotes Answered Correctly
Porteous 5
Bomber 2
Scott 2
Stoobs 1
I understand that there has been eleven games, one of which saw no victor, the next blog will see another quote from that same movie and 2 points to the player that gets it right.
Keep 'em peeled.
