Drive In Saturday
Well it was on a Friday, but that wouldn't be a song title.
On the drive in on my arrival to Korea I found us sitting in a traffic jam just on the outskirts of Cheonan. The guy I was with offered no explanation as to what the reason for the stop was, and I couldn't see why we had. At the traffic lights just up from us I spotted that all the cars, no matter what direction they were facing had stopped and loads of people were out of their cars smoking and standing around.
Me: "What's happening here?" I questioned.
John: "Oh this happens once a month" He replies in an almost TOO nonchalant and evasive manner. A few minutes pass and I ask him again, in the hope that I might get a fuller answer if I annoy him enough.
John: "Well on the 15th of each month we have an attack readiness thing, where sirens go off and all the traffic is to stop. "
Me: "OH!!"
It turns out that due to the supposedly constant threat from North Korea, there is a readiness alert once a month to ensure that everyone can..... *erm*..... Stop their cars and stand around smoking I presume. I'm not sure what help this would be in a full scale military attack, perhaps they hope to rid themselves of the enemy by giving them lung cancer through passive smoking.

AWESOME!
Reading you're daily updates about your whacky adventures fills me with a considerable amount of joy.
The only feeling i can compare it to is how i imagine it would feel like if i lived on the moon.
