Actions and Reactions

I think I should start giving a little more in depth information about what it's like to come away from everything that you know to somewhere completely different.
After a horrible, and honestly soul sucking couple of years after graduation, I found myself in a job I didn't like or want to do. What should I do now? Well the answer seemed easy at the time "I'll quit" I thought to myself and promptly did. The problem facing me now was not "where will my next job be" but was closer to "will I bother getting up for lunch, or just stay in bed until dinner" this appears to be a constant for every time that I have been unemployed (unemployable?).
I found myself bumming around and making a lacklustre attempt at getting a job which in all fairness I didn't really want, someone should just pay me for being me, I can do this from home. To my amazement I found that there was NOONE out there that was willing to pay me extortionate amounts to do this so I had to decide on something fast as money was running low and I'd watched every video and DVD that I owned.
Then with with a little help from some friends (big thanks to Gregor for pushing me with his constant beration, and the George for making me never want to go back) I was aided in my search for something new, will I try office again? No I hated that, should I work in a bar again? No it bored me, will I work in a shop again? Not in this lifetime. Then I struck on an idea. I have met and known of many people who have headed abroad to teach our fair language and enjoyed it greatly so my quest was set - I'll choose a country and head out there, thinking all the while "this'll be easy".
Interestingly enough, and to my surprise, it was easy. I sent off for some leaflets did a couple of courses and got my name out there with a few recruiters and schools in Korea. "Why Korea" I hear you shout with the unison of a pantomime audience. Well it chose me really, I spotted some job vacancies and just went for it, I researched the country a bit and it seemed like the best place for me to go.
So I get some calls out of the way and get offered a job ( the process was slightly more long winded than that, but not really very interesting so I'll just go on). The job was in Cheonan "Where's that?" the audience screams again, well its about one hour south of teh Korean capital Seoul. A city with the same population as Edinburgh no less, PERFECT!
So I started getting the final preparations underway and found out I still had a load more to do than I thought. Luckily I had the help of that lifelong helper that I was blessed with - My mother who helped me over and over with ALL the organising. So much for being young and self reliant, sometimes everyone needs their mum.
The final leg of this chapter is that of the final week before departure. Everything is still up in the air, where's my money? have I had all the right injections? What the hell am I doing? Well there was no way of going back as I'd already bought the tickets, the panic was beginning to subside anyway (a little). I headed off for the airport in the hope that I hadn't made some horrible mistake.
This story is not complete, and there are many more factors to be considered. I managed to keep it quite short though. Next time the post won't be so fruit Lassie (Mellon Collie, get it?)
